2010 Computer Fair Project Summary

ID # -

Project Title - Glog Girlz

1. Describe the project’s objectives, vision, and/or overall purpose.
The reason we made a glog was to basically have fun and take responsibility for our own projects. The projects describe who we are while also learning about new technologies that make school fun. We also wanted to enhance a class wiki that is used for writing assignments. We also thought it would be really exciting to enter a computer fair!

2. List the software applications used to create the project. List any additional equipment (scanners, digital camera, etc.) used in the creation of your project.
The Glog was made on EDU Glogster. We used this and embedded it onto a wiki on Wikispaces when it was complete. To design our project we used a PC computer, Nikon digital camera, a flip video camera, and microphone to create our glogs. We also used Garageband on a Mac to create our podcast. The website Blabberize was used to make a picture talk.

3. Provide a brief description of the process used to create the project.
The process we used to create our glogs was that our teacher gave us a username and password to Glogster. He showed us how to create a glog and then allowed us to do what we wanted. We started out by naming our glog and picking backgrounds. Then, we added text and graphics. The nice thing about this site is that nothing is permanent and we could always make changes wherever we had a computer and the internet. Later on we put on pictures of ourselves with our class Webkinzs Little Leo and Cuddles. We uploaded these pictures and then linked them to get on the writing assignments. We also made videos about ourselves using the flip camera. We uploaded them onto the computer and added them to our glog. We gave them a player and put them into it. We also made a podcast by using Garageband. Mr. Bigley made an MP3 out of the podcast and uploaded it into our accounts. We then added it to our glogs. We also added some of our favorite websites to our glogs so we can access them easily. This was when we learned how to use the website Blabberize. We used this to make a picture talk that we could add to our writing assignments about our Webkinz. Communication was done regularly though a message board that is on the glog website. Mr. Bigley used this to give us suggestions. We also talked back and forth with each other about our glogs. That was my process of creating our personal glogs to enhance our class wiki.

4. List the approximate time spent creating the project and name all contributors to the project.
It took about four weeks until our glogs were completely finished. The person who helped us create our glogs was Mr. Bigley. Mr. Bigley gave us tips on how to make our glogs better. He did that two ways. Face to face and through messaging on the Glogster website that we made our glogs on.

5. If design elements/graphics are included, please describe where the elements originated. Please include citations of all design elements that are not original.
Most of the design elements and graphics originate from Glogster. The podcast has music segments on it that our listed below. The other thing on our glogs that were not created by me are pictures and websites that are listed below.
